The Commodore Motel in Mount Gambier was built in 1963 on the site of the towns old Saleyards. Established by successful motelier George Frew as part of his established chain of Motels, stretching throughout Western Victoria and Queensland. The Commodore was taken over by Leanne and Evan Kosch in January 1989.
Soon after the business was acquired, plans were developed and renovations commenced on the Motel’s accommodation, function and dining facilities. Since then, the continued modernising and upgrading of the motel’s facilities has remained an important aspect of the establishment's operation.
Now known as “Commodore on the Park” and hosted by Evan Kosch the motel offers 53 spacious rooms and suites as well as 3 self-contained apartment style accommodation houses. Over the past 5-7 years, multi-stage renovations have taken place by making improvements to existing rooms to offer a high level of accommodation suitable for the corporate traveller as well as maintaining a quality standard room level accommodation.
